Extreme Sports
Whether competitor, hobbyist or once-in-a-lifetime
guest, most extreme sports mean hands are well and truly full - so the
opportunity to snatch that footage with a camera, digital video
recorder or camera phone is difficult if not impossible.
Rapid Media Systems’ equipment is small enough to be strapped to
clothing, but robust enough to tolerate just about anything thrown at
it, or anything it is thrown at.
As in other events, experiences and applications, the system can be
used as an outright souvenir of an extreme sports event or experience,
it can also be used for assembling data to provide valuable
information for competitors looking to improve their performance.
The system can link video with data logging across a vast range of
parameters to help assess competitor performance.
While it is an important tool in extreme sports at competitive
level, it is also a tremendously powerful method of recording
once-in-lifetime experiences, enabling guests to share that experience
with friends and family.
The Rapid Media-developed system is supremely uncomplicated.
Competitors, guests, participants or administrators are given a Flash
memory card as they arrive and sign in. The Flash card is slotted into
a playing-card box sized digital recorder which can take video footage
from a number of angles simultaneously.
At the end of the event or experience, the card is slotted into a
PC, the competitor or guest recognised, and event and other content
merged into a finished, edited, product, and then screened for
assessment, or presented to the guest on a souvenir DVD – complete
with their name and other information – all in around four minutes.
